Building on previous events held in 2019 (Willows Veterinary Centre), 2023 (Royal Veterinary College) and 2024 (University of Surrey), this year the host is the University of Liverpool. This recurring event aims to sustain the collaborative success of teaming up veterinary microbiology laboratories and clinicians, all working together to improve antimicrobial use and antimicrobial stewardship.

We have a room capacity of approx 36 for Thursday afternoon and 95 for Friday, so please do book when you can so that we can open the meeting up (by invitation) to other interested parties! For now, we are prioritising attendance for diagnostic laboratory staff as this will be the focus of this event.

Thursday 13 November 2025

New for this year, is an afternoon session which is geared to laboratory staff as it is focused on technical aspects of laboratory work, aiming to develop some practical steps towards a harmonised approach to both bacterial culture and antimicrobial susceptibility testing for clinical specimens from companion animals. Due to the limited number of spaces available, we specifically encourage laboratory technical staff and lab managers directly involved in running the microbiology laboratories to participate in this session.

Friday 14th November 2025

Similar to the previous editions, this full day will include interactive talks and workshop options. We will look to cover topics including updates from the VetCLIN AMR project, up-dates from VMD on harmonised surveillance in companion animals, summaries of ongoing clinical studies, case-based group work and new diagnostic tools for the laboratory and their impact on clinical work.
