Following the announcement that the BSAVA Congress has been retired, your committee must consider what the future holds for our spring event. We are grateful for those that completed our membership survey earlier this year, confirming that members still want two events per year.

Many of you suggested that a virtual event would be appealing and provide a chance for many to attend who would not be able to do so in person, and so this spring we are pleased to announce a virtual event.

We are grateful to ECVIM who have confirmed that virtual oral presentations at SAMSoc will be valid for credentials and so we will be pleased to include this on the programme.

For the last two years we have successfully delivered a dedicated online session to our veterinary nurses, and our plan is to combine these two programme streams online in 2026. We'll be offering incentivised pricing for a practice who books a vet and a nurse onto the event.

Full details of our speakers and their topics will be updated as we confirm them.

Oral abstracts

We are welcoming case report / research presentation entries describing interesting or unusual cases or research projects. The oral presentations will be 12 minutes and should describe conditions affecting either cats or dogs.

Submission

Submissions closed on 10th April 2026 at 23:59 and submissions after this time will not be considered. Successful candidates will be informed by 23:59 GMT on 24th April 2026.

Judging

The SamSoc committee will select the abstracts to be delivered to meeting delegates. The primary author must attend the online meeting to present and reply to any questions during the 2026 Spring meeting.

Successful candidates will be invited to present a 12 minute oral presentation. Use of Microsoft PowerPoint using the SamSoc template is encouraged. Please include a title page to present the title and author(s), and a disclosure page to present any conflict of interest and details of funding.

We look forward to receiving your entry.
